Musrenbang IPB 2013 on BOPTN

At the opening of the year 2013, the Directorate of Planning and Development (Ditrenbang) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized its first official meeting (Musrenbang) with its sole agenda on the Bantuan Operasional Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (BOPTN – the Operational Funding Assistance for State Universities). The event was held at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), on 2 January 2013. The Director of Planning and Development, who was also Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Musrenbang IPB 2013, Dr. D Iwan Riswandi said that Musrenbang 2013 IPB was actually the follow-up meeting of the previous Musrenbang held on June 2012.
Furthermore, he said that in the 2013 Meeting each unit was expected to compile programs and compose them into the Term of Reference (TOR) and its Budget Plan (RAB). "The objective of the TOR should be clearly stated, and its output should be measurable, both qualitative and quantitatively," he said
IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc on this special occasion explained various developments of the funding resources for higher educational institutions in Indonesia. "BOPTN is one of the government's commitment that higher education is accessible to all citizens," he explained. In front of all Vice-Rectors, Deans, Associate Deans, Directors/Head of Offices and the Chairman of the Departments, Rector also explained on the allocated budget of BOPTN for IPB as foundation of the annual budget of annual working plans of all units. The important requests of Rector for the integrated work among units was the procurement of chemical stock room as a Center that supplies all the required chemicals by all laboratory works of Departments under the Faculties of IPB. Another thing that should be tackled by the Field Specialty (Program Studi) is the implementation of problem-based learning for its development that provide solutions for the problems faced by farming community in the broad sense.
